Uganda Industrial Research Institute

Uganda Industrial Research Institute is Uganda Government’s lead agency for industrialization located on Plot 42A Mukabya Road, Nakawa Industrial Area. It was established by an Act of Parliament of Uganda under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade Industry and cooperatives (MTIC). It is the country’s main vehicle for implementing strategies and measures aimed at transforming industry in Uganda.

The Institute has metamorphosed in its focus, mandate, organizational structure and sense of purpose to address more effectively its mission and the country’s industrial development strategies resulting into a dynamic, flexible and responsive organisation that is geared to;

UIRI Mandate
UIRI has a mandate to undertake applied research and to develop and acquire appropriate technology in order to create a strong, effective and competitive industrial sector in Uganda

To be a model institution in applied research and technology sourcing as vehicles for incubation of industry and also to pioneer self financing Research and Development (R&D)
