Uganda is endowed with many fresh water bodies including rivers which have potential for power generation and marine based tourism.
The following are the major rivers of Uganda
River Kafu

which is  about 180km in length is located in the Western Uganda and flows through the districts of Luwero, Nakaseke, Nakasongola, Kyankwazi, Hoima and Masindi.
River Nile

is located in Africa and it starts its journey to the Mediterranean Sea in Uganda. It is the longest in Africa and in the world.
River Semliki

originates from Lake Edward found in Kasese District in Western Uganda
River Katonga

with a lengh of 220 km is located in the south-western part of Uganda. It starts from Lake Victoria and flows, first, northwards into Lake Wamala.
Other Rivers

Uganda has many other small rivers across the country.
The rivers are a home to different fauna and flora including crocodiles, hippopotamus, elephants, the Nile fish, Nile Monitor, frogs, turtles, tortoises, mongooses and several hundred thousand water birds. and various kinds of antelopes among others. Tourist activities along these rivers include fishing, camping, boat cruises which offer a better view of wildlife.
