Transport System in Victoria Seychelles

Victoria is the capital city of the Seychelles, situated on the north-eastern side of Mahé Island. The city has a total population of 87,972 and served by Seychelles International Airport. People in the city move to and from the city using various means of transport which include;

Special Hire Taxis

Special Hire Taxis are available on Mahé and Praslin and on La Digue. In Mahé they usually charge around €50 a day. Rates on Praslin are about €10 to €15 more expensive.


Buses operate to and from the city; destinations and routes are usually marked on the front of the bus. There is a flat rate of Rs 3 whatever the length of journey.


Islands have bicycles readily available for hire on La Digue and Praslin, where they are a popular mode of transport. Bicycles are the principal form of transport on La Digue and they obtained by negotiating.


Ferries operate from the Baie Ste, Anne Jetty on Praslin to La Passe Jetty on La Digue. Travel by ferry is very easy between Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.


The Seychelles International Airportis about 8km south of Victoria is the only ­international airport in the Seychelles. The only scheduled services are between Mahé and Praslin, with around 20 flights per day in each direction.
