Sossusvlei Dunes, Namibia

Sossusvlei Dunes are found in Namibia and are referred to as the highest dunes in the world and most outstanding attraction in Africa. The dunes have developed over millions of years as a result of material flowing from the Orange River into the Atlantic, carried north and returned again to land by the surf. Sahara dunes, Morocco

Sahara dunes are found in Morocco and accessible from the northern edge of Morocco.  The foot of the Dunes is the ultimate location for star-gazing which is totally free of light pollution. Coordinates: 19°47′36″N 18°33′6″E

Draa dune, Morocco

This is between the Atlas Mountains and the dunes of the Sahara and this is a mass of date plantations punctuated by kasbahs made of rammed red earth rising against the sky. Coordinates: 28°40′54″N 11°07′13″W

Dragon Dune

Dragon Dune is found in South Africa on private land and this provides the ultimate ride on sand, similar to snowboarding. The sand covers over 320 metres. Coordinates: 23°S 22°E / 23°S 22°E
