Rwanda is a landlocked East African country with a green and mountainous landscape and also commonly known as a “Land of a Thousand Hills”. Rwanda is bordered to the east Tanzania, to north by Uganda, to the south by Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west. Rwanda coordinates are 1.9403° S, 29.8739° E. The country is also well known as a home of mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, chimpanzees and exploding lake among other things. Rwanda has achieved consistent economic growth because of its sound macroeconomic management policies and fiscal discipline. Rwanda has a unique leadership committed to its development with a culture of zero tolerance for corruption.

Largest Lake: Lake Kivu is the largest lake in Rwanda with 2,700 square kilometres. It is one of the known exploding lakes in the world. The lake contains methane gas estimated at 65 cubic kilometers and carbon dioxide estimated at 256 cubic kilometers.

Largest Forest: Nyungwe Forest is the largest forest in Rwanda covering 1,013 square kilometres followed by Giswati Forest covering 1,000 square kilometres.
