butareButare Town located in the Southern Province of Rwanda in Huye District  has a population of 77,000. It was the formal capital of Rwanda before Kigali became the capital city.

  • The Town is served by Butare Airport and a small civilian airport administered by the Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority.
