Air Transport in Kenya

Kenya is the largest economy in east Africa and is a regional financial and transportation hub therefore Air Transport provides the most efficient and quickest transport means to and from Kenya. The country’s perishable high value commodities   like fish, flower, fruits and vegetables are exported by air.

International Airports
Four airports handle international flights, Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Mombasa’s Moi International Airport (MIA), and Eldoret International Airport, Kisumu International Airport.

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA)
Kenya has Jomo Kenyatta International which is Kenya’s largest aviation facility, and the busiest airport in East Africa and Central Africa and it forms the hub of air transport within the region. The airport is located in Embakasi, a suburb to the south-east of Nairobi. The airport is situated 15 kilometres from Nairobi’s Central Business District, and at the edge of the city’s built up area.

Moi International Airport / Mombasa Airport
Moi International Airport / Mombasa Airport, is airport located in Mombasa, Mombasa County, in a township called Port Reitz, in southeastern Kenya, along the Indian Ocean coast.
Its location lies approximately 425 kilometres by air, southeast of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, the largest and busiest airport in the country. It is the second-largest and second-busiest airport in Kenya and is operated by Kenya Airports Authority.

Eldoret International Airport
Eldoret Airport is located in the city of Eldoret, in Uasin Gishu District, Rift Valley Province, in the southwestern part of Kenya, close to the International border with Uganda. Its location is approximately 17 kilometres by road, south of the central business district of Eldoret. This location lies approximately 269 kilometres by air, northwest of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Kisumu International Airport
Kisumu International Airport is an airport in Kisumu, Kenya It is the third busiest airport in Kenya and the country’s fourth international airport.
