Location

Burkina Faso also known by its short-form name ‘Burkina’ is a West African state. It is bordered by Mali to the north and west; Niger to the east; and Benin, Togo, Ghana, and Cote d’Ivoire to the south.

Size

Burkina Faso is a landlocked country with a total land area of 274,200 square kilometers. Land cover is 273,800 square kilometers while water cover is 400 square kilometers.

Population

The country has a population of 17.8 million people according to 2013 estimates.

Average temperature

There are mainly two very distinct seasons, rainy season and dry season. During the dry season, temperatures range from 35°C to 48° C.During the rainy season, temperatures vary from as low as 7° C to as high as 25°C.
