Botswana is the world’s third-biggest diamond producer producing over 15 million carats of diamonds a year, behind Russia and Canada. Botswana is the world’s largest and richest diamond mine thus the demand of diamonds from Botswana is fairly high.

According to official figures, the country exported almost $5 billion in diamonds in 2012, representing a 19.5% increase over the previous year.

Other mineral exports include copper, nickel, soda ash, meat, textiles

Botswana’s main exports partners are United Kingdom (56% of total exports), South Africa, Israel and Belgium.
