Taxi services are another mode of transport in Port Louis. They can be identified by their white number plates. Most of them do not have a taximeter so be sure to settle the price for your drive in advance. Many taxis wait at the hotels for passengers.

Buses

Buses are the primary mode of public transport in Port Louis. They can be found at the Immigrations Square, northeast of the Central Market. Also at the Immigration Square are buses for northern and eastern destinations like Trou aux Biches, Grand Baie and Pamplemousses. Buses for southern and western destinations leave from the Victoria Square terminus, south of the city centre to places such as Mahébourg, Curepipe and Quatre Bornes
