Tax Climate in Kenya

Taxes in Kenya are administered by Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) an independent government body.

Article 209 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 outlines powers to impose taxes or raise revenue for both the national government and the county government. The assignment of revenue responsibility between these two tiers of government is in keeping with the devolution framework, whose design ensures that the national government has responsibility over most of the taxes with significant tax bases.
