Transport System in Praia

Praia is the capital city of Cape Verde with a population of over 134,000 people situated on Santiago Island with an area of over 991 km².   The common means of public transport within the city are as follows:

Air transport

Praia city is situated on Santiago Island and is connected to other islands urban areas by air services provided by A TACV Cabo Verde airline. Praia city is a home to Praia International Airport which offers regional and international connecting flights.

Minibus (Aluguers)

These are metered taxis that provide public transport services to different destinations on the islands.

Pickup trucks

There are also pickup trucks with bench seats which offer public transport from the city to different upcountry destinations.

Ferry

There are also ferry services between the islands.

Buses

The city is served by a number of buses.

Special hire taxis

These are privately owned vehicles that transport people to different areas around Praia and the suburbs at negotiated charges.
